Shiva is the one of the three gods in the Hindu triumvirate. The triumvirate consists of three gods who are responsible for the creation, upkeep and destruction of the world. The other two gods are Brahma and Vishnu.

Here are some of the tallest statutes of Lord Shiva in India and around the world. Have you visited any of these?

1: Kailashnath Mahadev (Nepal – 144ft)

Kailashnath Mahadev in Nepal is the tallest structure of the lord Shiva in standing pose. It is about 43.5 metres (143 ft). The colour of the statue is copper and the face is serene, pleasant and welcoming to the believers and travellers. The statue is located in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal.

The statue is 144 feet (44 m) in height, and was made using copper, zinc, concrete, and steel. According to the List of statues by height, Kailashnath Mahadev is the world’s fortieth-tallest statue, four places after the Statue of Liberty.

 

2. Shiva Of Murudeshwara (Kannada, Karnataka  – 122ft)

The famous Shiva temple not only has the biggest monumental tower but also the statue. Shiva, here, is silver coloured and seated. His eyes are open and pleasant. The ornaments and jewels are gold coloured. The statue is situated in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka (south India) and is about 37m (122 ft). The statue and temple are located on the beach in Murudeshwara, which lies on the Arabian Sea coastal line.

 

3.Sur Sagar Lake (Vadodara – 120ft)
Vadodara Municipal Corporation has constructed a large statue of Lord Shiva in the middle of this lake. This Lord Shiva statue is in standing posture and is 120 feet tall. The special lighting arrangement on this statue gives a tremendous effect during the late evening and night hours.

 

4. ‘Adiyogi’ Lord Shiva Statue (Coimbatore – 112ft)

The 112 feet tall ‘Adiyogi’ Lord Shiva steel statue situated in Coimbatore at the Isha Yoga Centre, has been declared the world’s largest bust by the Guinness Books of World Records.Prime Minister Narendra Modi had unveiled the statue on February 24 2017. An official states that the estimated weight of the statue is around 500 tonnes.
